Forensic odonto-stomatology offers a broader perspective on the role of dental professionals in forensic science. The term Forensic Odonto-Stomatology has a longstanding international tradition, reflected in IOFOS and the Journal of Forensic Odonto-Stomatology. Its use encourages a wider discussion on professional identity, interdisciplinary collaboration, training standards, competencies, quality assurance and responsibility.
The proposal is not to replace established terminology automatically, but to open a scientific and professional debate on how the discipline should evolve and how properly trained experts can contribute more effectively to forensic science, justice, human identification and humanitarian action.
